Why Krypton Ø has no open sign-up

You can only join Krypton Ø (Krypton zero) through someone who already knows you. Here’s why we built it that way, what Backers are, and how to get in if you don’t know a member yet.

Most apps want as many sign-ups as possible. Krypton Ø (Krypton zero) has no sign-up page at all. The only way in is through a person who’s already here and knows you.

Why close the door

A network for people who know each other only works if everyone on it is known by someone. Open sign-up brings spam accounts, fake profiles and strangers looking for a way in. Asking every new member to be let in by someone they know keeps the network made of real relationships.

How you get in

  • An invitation link. A member sends you a link. Once they confirm it’s you, you’re in, and they become your first Backer.
  • A request link. If you don’t have a link, install Krypton Ø, tap “Ask for an invite” and send your request link to a member you know. They confirm they know you.

Either way, your account is made on your phone. You’re never asked for a phone number or an email.

What Backers are

A Backer is someone who vouches for you. To become a full member you need two: the person who brought you in, and the first other person you become Fam with. For the first 1,000 people, one is enough.

Invitations kept off the record

Members receive invitations that our server issues without seeing them. When someone joins, the server checks only that the invitation is genuine. Its stored records don’t say who brought whom in. In the moment a request arrives, connection logs can still show it, and for people the Krypton Ø team lets in directly, the server keeps that the team let them in.

After you’re in

You connect with the people you know by sending a Fam request, scanning each other’s QR code or sending a Fam link that works once within 24 hours. Your Fam list stays on your phone, and the server doesn’t know who’s on it.
